Haiti is an island nation in the Carribean. There are just under 10 million people and there are two national languages: Creole and French. While Haiti has been influenced by Christian mission work for many centuries, there is still a large percentage of people who hold to Voodoo beliefs and traditions. Since the devastating earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Hillside Missions has had the opportunity to lend support to the Haitian Christian community through teaching English and cross-cultural communication courses for residents and staff at an orphanage as well as helping to lead short-term trips where we helped to host a gospel storytelling events, feeding project, and a vision clinic.
