Hillside Missions Organization was invited by Christian leaders and government authorities to conduct dialogue and prayer events as well as meetings with the goal of advancing the cause of religious freedom in Iraq. As long as religious minorities are subject to targeted persecution and discrimination, they can not be free.
On February 13th through 16th, we participated in the ancient christian prayer and fasting holiday referred to as the Rogation of the Ninevites. We also be conducted meetings with church leaders to pair Christian congregations with Iraqi congregations so that they can share prayer requests, information and other support needs with each other.
We met with government authorities to try to help to develop new community strategies for eliminating some of the false stereotypes and destructive misinformation that is propagated about the religious minorities in the region. We want people to know their neighbor so that they can love him. We are also considering several potential partnership possibilities including establishing an English Learning School in Erbil.
Religious minorities need protection from persecution in Iraq as well as community support. Please pray for us as we work toward these goals.
